About Me

Hey guys I’m Tom Lui Burless a motion graphics and CGI artist based in the beautiful coastal town of Byron Bay, NSW. I’ve been working in the world of animation, motion design, and CGI for over seven years now but my journey into this field is a little different from most.

When I was 18, I had a stroke while I was still in high school. Unfortunately it hit the right side of my body, the same side I used for drawing. Before that I was always deeply into visual art. I grew up in a creative family surrounded by artists and art had always been a big part of my life. Losing the ability to draw the way I used to was really tough and it forced me to re-evaluate how I expressed myself creatively.

"What started as a workaround for my physical limitations became my new passion."

Less than two years after my stroke, I enrolled at TAFE to complete my high school education. During that time, I started exploring digital art forms and quickly became drawn to motion graphics and CGI. What started as a workaround for my physical limitations became a new passion and now it’s what I do every day. I love being able to combine movement, design, and storytelling into something that connects with people, visually and emotionally.
